Can't open trunk with FOB or door switch

Been reading a fair bit, here is where I am at:

- trunk wouldn't open, I could hear motor running but trunk remained closed
- eventually I couldn't hear the motor work
- actual key opened trunk
- opened up wires and don't visually see a problem
- trunk light works
- then I close the latch with a screwdriver and nothing via the key fob or door switch (no change)
- I hit the green safety button and can see the gear move but it doesn't pop the trunk (I think it uses a different power wire)
- trunk and liner totally out now and will be checking for power at the latch

Its weird that the green safety button triggers the latch gear but doesn't release it. On the other hand no gear movement via the fob suggests the power wire.

Any experiences or thoughts?

Have you recently removed your battery?

The actuator is connected to the latch via a bowden cable I believe. You may want to check if it got dislodged if you can hear the motor but no actuation. The emergency button is connected to the actuator directly. If neither remote or releasing at the latch work, it could be an actuator issue. You will need to check for power at each point to see what the issue is. My CDI is starting to act up like yours (but intermittently) so I will be looking into this too.

The emergency button moves the white gear but doesn't actually trigger the lock to open. Power testing should help today. Might also dismantle the lock if power is there.

* A few things this morning, button in car works & keyfob works on the trunk latch (ie. moving the gears) only when voltage on the back battery is above 12.3V
* However, when the gears move, nothing else moves, the "locking" doesn't unlock. So I think its something broken between the gears & the latch.

Anyone have a diagram on disassembling the trunk lock mechanism, if even possible?
