Can't read the numbers in climate comtrol panel in daylight

Car is a '06 E55. Is this a common problem? It's fine at night, but in the daytime I can't read the numbers such as temp being set. Am I overlooking some way to bring these numbers up to max brightness?

This place is a joke.
Is your radio display also dark? (i.e. the background never turns white)..then your rain/light sensor may be bad..it is located at the top of your windshield.

No, the radio lighting is fine. It's just the climate control panel digits that are really dim in daylight.

I have the same issue in my 05. I have had the following message"light sensor, visit workshop" pop up, then it goes away.
