Fuel smell from engine bay and P0455..
I've been having an issue lately with a P0455 code as a "major leak in purge system" accompanied with a pretty stiff smell of fuel towards the back of the engine and I can't seem to find the issue myself. I checked the metal line that plugs into the back of the throttle body and it didn't seem loose and I couldn't feel any compromises in the line itself...
Can anyone offer any input on where to look before I go to the dealer for further diagnostics? I had them run STAR but they didn't have time to really dig into it and I would like to avoid paying X amount of dollars if there is just something I am overlooking...

Have you had your gas tank and/or fuel pump(s)replaced? If the tank or pump(s) are leaking the code will present itself along with the gas smell from my experience. There is a recall that was issued in which the dealer will replace those items at their cost. Hopefully someone else will chime in to verify that.

I don't think it will throw a code, but the pulse dampener on the fuel rail will give you the gas smell at the back of the engine. There is a thread on it somewhere here.

Ended up depressurizing the vacuum system today and it was at normal...
Pressurized the system, couldn't find a leak, and it held the pressure.
Also after doing that, the CEL went away. My buddy said he didn't clear the code which kind of stumped me. I'll cancel my appointment and see what happens this week.
Any idea what may have changed? Maybe I have a bad sensor? I'm stumped.
