Quick question about the external temperature sensor

Sorry guys, but i have a stupid question about the external temperature sensor (the one that is behind the drivers side fog light). If that is damaged, could it effect the A/C not getting cold?

Once again thanks for everyones help

Related question, my external temp seems to read 6 to 7 degrees high viewed on the dash, can this be reset or is a new sensor the fix? Seems to trivial to start another thread....

What's the temp displaying in the cluster? The compressor won't turn on if the ac thinks it's freezing outside.

This is very common as the temperature at the ground level/road surface is usually warmer. There is also a long delay for the temperature to update on the display. They are cheap so doesn't hurt to see if a new one reacts a little more accurately.
