The big itch

I am considering swapping my 2002 996TT for the E55. My neighbor just bought a black on black e55, looks absolutely gorgous. Real nice car.

I find that I am only using my Porsche on the weekend going out with the Mrs. I tend to use my truck during the week if I am hauling kids or more than one passenger. It is just more convenient. I would love to have the same power as my turbo but also seat the entire family.

Wife drives the Cayenne S, which is a really nice SUV, but it does not have the performance as my turbo.

What do you guys think, take the plunge. I am thinking Tectite with black interior.

Will the model change in the next year or two? Should I wait for the next model change? How about the M5. I am not so worried about rain or snow or traction issues, since we are in Southern CA.

If you can wait for the 2006 models hopefully coming in Sept 2005 it should be a E63 AMG. 2006 should be the year the W211 chassis gets the face-lift mid-model upgrade. New features will be added with a fresh new looks and the next generation engines - a 6.3 liter, 4 valve normally aspirated engine with well over over 500. It should also have the 7 speed automatic.

the e55 is without a boubt one of the best if not the best cars in its class/price range in every aspect, but then again so is the twin turbo, so I must say you've got a pretty tough choice!!! If there is any way for you to keep the porsche and get the benz, then by all means, go for it!!! If I already had the Cayanne as my family car, I'd probably keep the 996 though. (why don't ask the Mrs. if she wants to trade her truck for the e55??!!!) good luck

Anyone knows how much more the 2006 E63 will be? I am hoping the price will stay the same but then you never know.
