New Mods On. Here we go again?

Guys,
I finally got the car back last night. The list of pre and post mods is below.

A few questions (what else do I have to buy?)...

Am I screwed? A VRP (aluminum intake) was installed. Looks good but tons of heat come from them. I read in a post from Shardl he wrapped with DEI Titanium Exhaust Heat Wrap. Will this help me?

Fabtech Engine Bay Tank - It is leaking and the mechanic ran a tube per HULK and RUTHLE55 suggestion. What are the "plug and play" options? Someone posted they replaced the FTP with a "Cobra" tank?

Car seems to run strong but won't really know until I do some pulls with some buddies.

Pre-Post mods below. Dyno tune on 6/28.

Existing Mods:
168 mm crank pulley (Renntech or Kleemann)
Headers (Renntech or Kleeman)
Fabtech heat exchanger with engine bay tank
Mazire Water Pump
Tune (Renntech or Kleemann - not a good one - car was running rich)

New Mods (6/16):
84mm S/C pulley - Eurocharged
Belt Wrap Kit - Eurocharged
TCU - Eurocharged
ECU (Eurocharged Box Tune)
82mm Throttle Body
550 Injectors
VRP Intake
One Step Colder Plugs
C63 mufflers (install next week)

Fix the tank, probably needs to be welded where it's leaking. Fab tech quality is crap.

It is leaking out of the top. I will remove it and re-fasten it to see if it helps.

See picture.

if you get the right stuff this will work. I may have went overboard I wrapped mine with a DEI sleeve then wrapped that in a 1500 degree heat shield wrap.

Oh, how I know your pain with that tank....

Rocman8 and I have the same tank and the same exact issue. That type of cap leaks on every single tank that I have heard of. I went back and forth with Fabtech on it. They told me to remove roughly 1/4-1/3 of the fluid and it won't leak. I did so and it doesn't leak anymore. Problem is, that reduces (obviously) the cooling fluid capacity to under their claimed level. It is not a true 2.5 gallon tank. It leaks out of the center of the cap, not around the perimeter where the bolts are.

Love the over doing it. I am going to do Reflective Gold" wrap. Apparently you can take a blow torch to it and touch it immediately after...

My engine bay tank leaks between the cap and mechanism that is bolted to the tank.

Thanks for everyone's help.

I left out that I have welders cloth inside of the intake sleeve underneath the tubes on the part that is directly above the header.

Does anything have to be taken apart to copy your set-up?

E55 and several 928s
Has anyone successfully gotten a dad's tank made in the last quarter or so? With an appropriate turn around time?

Unfortunately yes, I will find pics of what I used and then post them in the order they were applied.

Welders cloth underneath the tubes above the headers, then wrap the tubes in the intake sleeve then wrap the heat shield around it and use the DEI cool tape to seal it up.

Ok I don't know where the first pic came from???? It won't load the pic of the welders cloth but you can get it from Home Depot.

Yes what a shame. And you contact fabtech and they tell you you are the only one with this issue and they've never heard anything before about this. All this because of a different cap they use now.

That won't help because it leaks up the shaft hole for the handle

Seems that you have to change the fitting and cap

I had that same problem with my Fabtech tank & it had a different lid. My advice, get rid of the Fabtech & get a trunk tank! Lower IATs & no issues.

Are you dataloging at all?

I suggest putting it back on the dyno and having EC do a custom remote tune.
Consider it cheap insurance

Titanium HE wrap going on the intake tomorrow. Custom remote dyno tune with Jerry scheduled for 6/28.

Also, considering Shardul's intake set up he sells as an option.

On dyno the wrap will likely not make a diff since the hood is open and cooler air is moving through the engine bay

This was the dialogue from our PM exchange...

"You can buy our intake spacer and filter kit for 450. it optimizes the stock airbox by raising the filters and removing the restriction." Pics below.

Definitely not cheap BUT...

Shardul pulled an 8A Hellcat at higher speeds! He must be on to something...

From what I have seen he is one of the most respected cats on the forum and does a lot of trailblazing (new ideas, etc.)...
