Oil pump compatibility

Hi all

As I need my car ready for July, and the current engine consumes oil like no tomorrow, I have a replacement engine from an SL55.

My engine code, 113.991, this engine code, 113.992.

differences, according to EPC are the sump/oil pump and that's it.

So, I can swap both sections of the sump, and the oil pumps across? Not quite.

I have tried this before, and despite EPC listing the same part no for the crankcase, they arent the same. I had this issue with a 1999 E55 na engine and a 2003 CLK55 engine, the pumps were not compatible and I was not able to fit it back together.

Seing as EPC is not clear, am I going to have the same issues here (assuming I cannot fit the 113.992 engine into my 215 with the sump unchanged?)

I remember someone doing this or something similar. There was some mix n match with oil pump parts or a custom pickup tube. Sorry I'm not much help, I don't know what to search under. It was at lest a 2 page thread though, with lots of engine building pics, and I think he lifted the heads with high compression. If you have the timing cover off, replace the oil pump chain tensioner spring at minimum.

Might have been called Frankenstein build thread.

Many thanks, I also had a vague memory of seeing a thread like that. I will try and get it all to fit and post up here with a solution.
