E63 injector broken; new noise after repair. Opinions?
'07 E63 owner here with about 57k miles. A few weeks back, during a normal drive home from work, I noticed a CEL. Came to a stop, and smelled/saw smoke from the back. Got the car home (~2 miles), and had it towed to the dealership the next morning.
Turned out an injector had failed, and fuel got into the engine oil. Main concern at the time was engine damage. However, the dealer said everything checked out as far as they could tell without getting into the engine. Installed a new injector, plugs, and changed oil.
However, upon taking delivery, it turned out that there was a new noise. A ticking that sounds like it's coming from the bottom of the engine and is synchronized with RPM. Got it on a lift and was told by someone with a lot of experience working on this model that the noise is coming from the transmission torque converter or front transmission pump area after pulling the shield off. Took it back to the dealer, and they're saying they can't tell until they put ~$1k of diagnostic hours into opening up the tranny.
Was hoping someone here might recognize the sound and provide some sort of guidance as to whether it's good to continue driving as-is, or if it really needs to be solved. I'm having a hard time seeing the correlation between the broken injector that got the car towed in and the noise it left with and apparently couldn't be troubleshot.

Ticking from the top synchronized with rpms is usually lifters.
Ticking from the bottom synchronized with rpms ... in my experience is rod knock.
I really dont see how fuel in the engine oil could cause damage to the torque converter or tranny pump. I'll have my fingers crossed for you that its nothing serious.
If that's what it is.
This sounds like a good time to send your oil in for analysis. Then do it again in a few thousand miles.

Someone on here was selling cams and lifters a few weeks ago, might want to look that up.
