Current dealing with purchase of a new torque converter

Hello all , long time since I've been here.
I recently purchased a new higher stall torque from UPD. I was rebuilding the 722.6 at 120,000 miles. It had a trans whine in the first 3 gears. and not on lock-up or overdrive. I pulled the trans. and the local MB tech at the dealership pulled it down for inspection . The trans looked great !!! So it was re-shimmed and he installed 2 new sprages / freewheel bearings. So I priced a new Mercedes converter , then remembered that Brooke & Shardul at UPD had been selling a new higher stall converter. So I order it , it was sent to FL. arrived 4 days later. I install it on to the trans. then went for a test drive.. WoW was I impressed. Leaving the stop light I no-longer have to modulate the throttle to Keep my ML( that's right ML-500 ) to keep it from lunging. I really like the smoother up shifts at low speeds and around town driving. But when I stand on the LOUD pedal shift are precise . Next was the fuel mileage . I just finished a 2000 mile trip in 2 days. which I do yearly , and measured no increase in fuel consumption. The brake stall with the OEM converter was 1200 rpm . The UPD was 2200 rpm. This mod was a win - win for me . Plus my Trans whine was gone too. Many Thanks to Brooke for spending the time with me and asking all the right questions . and great service . Cheers PTEngineering

I might take you up on this before it cools down this fall. We are close.

I have too much vacation time on the grid.

Thanks, Gator
