on a road trip, add 1qt light came on, cant seem to find any places within a reasonable distance that carries 0w40 or equivalent oil ( almost 2 hours). bought some 10w40 full synthetic what harm would be adding that vs driving around looking for the correct oil? planned on changing oil when i got back home regardless.

fingers crossed!!!! have about 4000 miles on the mobil 1 0w 40 i usually change it around 5k, is it ok to drive to the 5k mark with 1qt of normal synthetic or should i change it immediately ?

I don't see this as a problem at all, your running 1w 40 now, Mercedes approved 5w 40. Change it when it's convenient and "forgid'a bout it".

you can mix oils...even synthetic with conventional. protection will be altered though, so change it out as soon as you can.

thanks guys, made it back 0 issues!! rear main has been leaking a little, and probably burning a little, almost got 70k, i definitely drive the car hard.
