Please help me decide

I have an 05 with 65k miles. K2 package(Headers, 1st cat del., resonator del. stock mufflers). I want more sound and have read as much as I could but can't decide......I'm looking for a loud and deep rumble with the ability to cruise home quietly.

Options; 2nd cat del.
C63 mufflers
E63 mufflers
Gut stock mufflers
Cut-outs, or some combination of the above

My head's spinning and my eyes are glazed over!

I need the voice of knowledge and experience to hopefully guide me to a decision.

As for performance what to consider now that I have 168 pulley/header/tune?

I would greatly appreciate your input, especially from those who have knowledge and experience with the aforementioned. Watching 50 more video clips isn't gonna help me decide. I'm looking for 1st hand information please.

I know by now there's a decade's worth of real world information so please help. Thanks!

I'd start with a second cat delete and go from there if it's not enough. I think that'll put you in a sweet spot honestly.

As for next mods, I would advise on upgraded cooling without a doubt. Water meth would be my go to, if you aren't game for that, then upgraded HX, pump, and FTP underhood tank with split cooling would be my recommendation.

I was about to 2nd cat del., but was told with 55 mufflers it won't be very loud.

Th mufflers do quite a good job, but I'd still say tsecond cats be your first move and see what you think.

They do a good bit of silencing themselves.

Regardless your exhaust choice...cooling mods please.

i think someone here did a full delete...secondaries, resonator, and mufflers...it was the sound he wanted. might have been on a CLS55. There is a video on youtube if you're curious.

Until u get rid of the e55 mufflers or do surgery on them, you won't get the sound you want. Go with c63 mufflers.

That was the 1st plan. With or w/o 2nd cats?

Is that what they mean "straight pipes"? Muffler shop suggested that.

You really think so? Even with my "light" mods? Kleeman did replace the I/C pump with a new unit.

Is it true E63 mufflers are direct replacement vs. C63 requiring some adjustments?

I remember someone did long tube headers and stock exhaust and they said it was much louder than they liked. They put the second cats back in and made it as quiet as stock

I would do full cooling mods to a factory stock car. Absolutely need it with a pulley. I still say water meth, but I can understand not wanting an extra system.

You are leaving a lot on the table power wise.

I uploaded a video of a 1min drive with a few throttle blips in 2nd gear driving in the NC mountains. The only resctiction in there now is the stock (2.7"? Resonator) other that it's LTH to tips...

It was not by choice it, was by force of auction =wallet

It is F*ing loud, I was in 2nd with my son in the car filming, I don't think I went over 4K... it is a state road that is part of a 6 hour two wheel loop I love, great get out of the city ride... state road, unmarked 50mph or 55 in NC I think I went 60 maybe 2x.

I will be adding more to break it up when I have time to weld in the vbands for the the x instead of the resonator. I also have 2 magnaflow resonators, that will go in. Then rear cans maybe depending how loud it is after the X and 3" resonators are in. There is drone, not bad though. You cannot pass someone while on the phone and I feel like a 25yr old ricer,/nascar driver. But it keeps me off the R1 and gives me a similar feeling; which was my purchase point.

sigh... It has been growing on me though

If it helps, I have long tubes, no cats, X pipe and stock mufflers and it has a very pleasant note. Almost sounds stock with a little touch. Hope that helps For thoughts on your decision.

I think it sounds awesome, but probably it's louder in person. Do you mean 3" Magnaflow Cats? Glad to hear it's keeping you off the R1 too. I can see that road being tempting for a bike. Nothing wrong with feeling like a 25yr old NASCAR driver either. Keep me posted.

Thanks, that might be the next step and if it's not enough, then mufflers. It's just that every time it's gonna be some $$$. Wish I could pin down the exact set-up and just do that. Or maybe reverse that. Straight pipe it, and if's it's too much start adding back in with resonator, then mufflers. Don't know if it makes any difference cost wise??????

Have a sound or video clip you can share?

I vote you cut off the secondary cats first, add 3"pipe back to the factory resonator; the Secondary cats and the factory H are THE restriction point IMHO of the factory system. If that does not satisfy mod the stock cans like others have done or even ditch the resonator later if the previous 2 suggestions don't offer the rumble in the jungle you are looking after.

Anyone selling E55 cans lol? I start to act like a Nascar driver with this thing the way it sounds

https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/sh...hare_link_copy

Magnaflow cans:

https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/sh...hare_link_copy

I guess you could call them 6x18" round "mufflers" but this is more of a resonator in my mind bc it lacks baffles... tomato/potato kinda thing I guess.

https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/sh...hare_link_copy

It does sound good but it just screams, quick mr officer he is that way... drive that general direction. He will hit is again.

Thanks for the compliment! Under Construction

HammerDown's setup sounds absolutely BasA$$ and classy, but I want a little tiny bit more BTFO sound. I think cut 2nd cats and your ears and K2 will benefit. Your stock cans do a great job keeping it classy. I would like a mix between HDs and my lack of exhaust.

Awesome, thanks. Nice low growl. I think I want a little louder, but maybe the sound doesn't really come thru on video. What do you think? Would you say it's noticeably louder in person then in the clip? Are your mufflers fully gutted? What's the difference in our headers?

So here's where I'm at(I think). I had my nephew run it around the block and it's the 1st time I've heard my car go by(yes, really). It's not as quiet and wimpy sounding as I thought it is so I'm going w/o 2nd cats for now and see what that does and go from there. But in the back of my mind I think I will still want more. Imagine that! Wish some C63 mufflers would pop up for sale close by. I really appreciate all the input and please keep them coming.

Anyone with QTP cut outs? Is it possible to install them after the headers on the down pipe? or somewhere else before 2nd cats? I've only seen them installed behind the mufflers.
