Dude on a 2004 you need to just replace the complete unit. Doing the accumulator makes no sense as you're looking at doing the repair twice now when the service threshold is reached. You can get an sbc unit for <$840. Not wise to spend half that for an accumulator then another $800 when the threshold is reached. Just my opinion though.

motors have bearings
I've never seen anyone address the fact that bearings wear out on motors too, not just brushes.
So...
What about the bearings?
Edited to add: Shaft seals too. Something has to seal the motor shaft from the pump, right? Another wear point or potential leak point.

Anybody that wants to see what is involved in brush replacement... here is the first vid, and as for the other wear items in the motor, yes over years and years, I'm sure other things could wear out but not before 3 or 4 sets of brushes and I don't expect to have the car for 20 more years so I'm taking a calculated risk, life is full of those
