phone echo

I have a new E55 with the "phone install". People I call are telling me that they hear a "bad echo" when I speak. Is this normal? I haven't called myself so I can't confirm. Thought I'd ask this "board" and see whether this is an inherent problem with the phone or I should be returning to the dealer for a fix.

People who talk to me say they hear an echo of themselves also. It happens intermittently.

Having the speaker volume low helps reduce the echo.

I don't how to eliminate it though and I don't want to take the time to leave my car at the dealership. I hate leaving my car with them. I will only do it if it is ABSOLUTELY necessary.

ditto for me - I don't know if all people get the echo and some mention it or if only some get the echo, but it is a problem. It is also sometimes awkward speaking to people as the phone acts like it can only process audio in one direction at a time. Not full duplex I think!!

You are correct

Not a full duplex system and MB really does not have a solution. The phone in the W211 is far better than that in my old C32. That phone was 100% useless. MB printed me a sheet of paper saying that the V60 had this non a full duplex issue and that it was the nature of the phone (not fixable) each time I took the C32 in for phone issues. I eventually gave up and used the phone as a $45 a month paper weight!

The V60's in my 2004 E500 and 2004 E55 not great either. The E55 has a terrible echo and is almost useless but the E500 (which has the older style V60 -- non V60i --) is rather well sorted out. My E55 is just about useless and I rarely plug the phone in unless it needs to be charged.

My W203 C230k has a V60 phone as well and it is 100% perfect. So who knows. Maybe the issue can be solved. If it works in a W203 lets hope it can work in a W211.

Pleae post any know solutions when they come to market.

Thanks

Cyn, I had the exact opposite experience. The phone worked great in our C32, but ever since we got the E55 my wife reported an echo.
