Headlight install question

I purchased new Hella active curve headlights a few months back to replace the active curve ones that came with my car in an effort to satisfy my wife who doesn't like the patina on the originals. Yes, I tried restoring them, but that didn't cut it. My original lights function perfectly fine.

I have been reading through WIS on how to swap them as far as bumper removal goes, but I have seen that they need to be re-coded once installed. Is that true if I am swapping the identical lights? If so, I have STAR, but don't know how to re-code them and am not finding much in my searches on here. Is it fairly easy or does this need to be done at the dealer. I don't have much interest in trying to learn German and mess with the developer mode of DAS.

thanks

No need to re-code anything. Just remove and replace.

Upon your advice I swapped them out fairly quickly. You were absolutely right. All the features are working as they should.

Greatly appreciated!

I'm a little upset that I must have purchased the wrong fog light assembly's for each side. I guess I will need to take the bumper off again when the correct ones show up. I should be able to do that fairly fast now that I understand the process.

Not sure you can buy the outer lens from Hella. There is a Hella part number on it, but I don't think they sell OEM parts separate from the whole assembly.

I'd like to know this as well.

This place is a joke.
You can buy the Chinese halogen replica lights on ebay for $200 and swap the lens. Worked great with my oem xenon units
