Need help!!! Weird problem! E55
Hello all,
After months of debate, tonight, I decided to pull the trigger(or that was the plan) on a low-mile, one owner, '04 E55 that showed up at my local Benz dealer.
Test drive went perfect! Car was as described. However, just as I pulled the car back to the dealership, I told my wife to hop into the driver seat. Heres where the problem happened. We could not move the seat up far enough for her to reach the peddles!!!!! Mind you, she is short, but 5' is not a midget and definitely shouldn't be an issue!
I looked all over to see if something was impeding the seat travel, nothing. The seat was stopping at the end of the rail.
Here is my question and where I need help.
Would anyone mind moving their seat bottom all the way forward and measure the distance from the surface of the brake peddle to the front of the seat? I'm wondering if there's something weird with this car. Maybe things were changed because the former owner was really tall?!
Thanks for your help!

I measured 18" from the brake peddle surface to the plastic storage tray at the front of the seat. This is with the seat "elevation" in the lowest position.
Something must be impeding the seat travel

Wild a** guess. Seats need to be set like windows and sunroofs after a battery disconnect? Have the battery disconnected, see if a "reboot" changes anything. These cars are rolling computers. Again just a guess.

I've seen similar problems. Customer had a bracket installed for a tablet mount and when the seat hit the bracket it got recorded in the module as the forward stop of seat movement. Resync the fore/aft motor with SDS and back to normal
Had same behavior described above and some kind of reset at the dealer fixed (unintended). I had figured the seat was just old and something was wrong.
Works great now.
