e55 smoking problem, possibly valves?
Ive got a smoking problem. I am pretty handy with a spanner, but i don't touch this car. So Ive had it in at the indy for a look as it threw a cylinder 4 misfire on Sunday. Cyl 4 Plugs were coated in oil. All new plugs and that subaru cleaner its running fine. My indy believes it to be the Valves Guides and Seals. This repair quote is a lot of money, and Ive spent over 20% of the value in only 10 months on maintenance. and this repair will bring me up to 30% of the cost in 10 months. I now struggling with the cost so much in such a short time.
It doesn't smoke on cold/overnight startup. It blows smoke under full power and if your idling and rev it up 10 times it starts to blow smoke, if you then idle it, it will idle smokey for 10 seconds and clear.
its not white smoke, its a dark grey blue.
My question is before i spend $$$$, could it possibly be anything cheaper than a head recondition? could a air valve cause this? does this sound like head work?
i still love my e55.
