E55 Wagon
Could use some education on suspension swap

I am thinking of swapping the Airmatic to more standard suspension system...Keeping the wagon for the long haul and want to avoid future Airmatic issue.

For those who have done it...Costly? What suspension setup did you use?

Not looking for full blown adjustable and all. Rather something that can provide a good ride on the sporty side (not bone crushing sport setup!)

Thank you

E55 Wagon
Looked at Arnott but showed only a full set for sedan

I would rather get the set front/rear if there is such an option. I know the weight of the wagon has probably something to do with it.

MERCEDES-BENZ CL-CLASS
Arnott's Coil Spring Conversion kit C-2278 for the W211 E-Class does not work on the Estate Wagon. It is a weight issue. I believe we are coming out with one for the wagon (with heavier springs) but I don't know what the ETA is.

Note: if you tow anything or often carry larger loads you would want to stick with an air suspension system anyway for the automatic load leveling functionality.

2006 E55 AMG
I put Strutmasters in mine and have been very happy. It's definitely cheaper in the long run to switch over as soon as you have your first Airmatic issue, and you don't have to worry about being out on the road and finding your car slammed due to a leak. They sell the W211 AMG kit for about $1,400, and it comes with a module so there are no error codes.

ETA: Okay, not sure if this kit works on the wagon.
