Trunk Opening
Recently the trunk of my 2003 E55 has been opening by itself. Any ideas what could be causing this? Is there an easy fix?

Electrical short would be the obvious first guess. Find the fuse for the trunk, pull it out (assuming there's nothing else of significance in the circuit) and see if it still does it. If it stays shut, start tracing the wires and find the intermittent short. The wires that run in the left hinge IIRC are known to have issues.
Mechanically, does the trunk release button feel right?

Could the remote button for the trunk be getting mashed while the remote is in your pocket?
