Tires for stock rims
I was looking to go a little wider and thanks to the posts I read I learned some great info about tire sizes like 265 Michelin's have 9.8" tread width while 275 Hankook's are 9.4" (per Tirerack's spec sheet). That seems crazy and misleading. I thought a 275 meant you have more contact patch than a 265!
Anyway, what I'm looking for are suggestions on tire brand and size for stock rims based on your experience. Should I stick with 265 Michelins or consider something else. I only drive the car in dry conditions.

IMO the 265/35 rear with a 245/40 looks wrong since the rear is shorter. So I ran a 275 rear and it looks much better. I now just picked up two 18-9.5 rears, factory rims, and will run 285/35 rear and put the 275/35 in the front. Tried them out and looks so much much better.

As as far as the original question if you only drive it in dry put Nitto or Toyo drag radials on the rear.
Fronts take your pick. Smoother the better imho. Can't go wrong with Pilot Super Sports.

I though the stock 265 were way to short, especially when compared to the front profile. I went 245F/275R and in pretty happy, next time i think i may go 285/35.
I was comparing my tires with my friends ATSV which comes factory with 18s wheels as well. the stock ATSV tires are 255/35/18 and 275/35/18 esecially the lower profile version of ours, looked good

How long might those rears last assuming I'm not constantly lighting them up? And what size F/R combo?

C32 mark the back spacing is 29mm and fits perfect.
Kenneyd a 285 will not fit right on a 9" rim.
The 285/35/18 fit "well" on a 9.5 stock rim but.... I also had them shaved a tad to give a flatter foot print since they really want to be on 10" wheels.
Bought the two 9.5" wide wheel's off Ebay for $400.00. They are 10mm "out" further and sit PERFECT on the rears with NO problems at all. Just type in 85033 Mercedes rim and they will pop up.
Buy the way I run the original rear wheels with 275/35/18 on the front....perfect fit and again 285/18/35 on a 9.5" rear wheel ....perfect and stance now looks correct with a VERY fat stance too!!!!

Maybe I missed it but can someone confirm for me on stock wheels I can go 255/40/18 & 275/35/18?
And considering I'd be lucky to get 10K miles out of them if I stop the burnout madness, Ventus V12 for $650+ install or Michelin PSS for $850+?

The 255 will be a tad taller and will not look right.IMO I know this because the 245 is taller.
