Highest mileage w211 E63
Who has the highest mileage E63 w211? Were the head bolts done or are those not that common? I've read only about 20 people have experienced an issue. Thanks!

97K miles and FOR SALE - for years i have been asking my indy shop about the headbolts and he just shakes his head - says a few bad ones and now the 6.3 gets a bad wrap - he is a huge believer in the 6.3 and loves this engine - so much that he has 2 E63's - trying to get him to own a 3rd, but in wagon variant this time..

Checking in w/162k miles on OG headbolts
Hi all,
Revitalizing an old thread out of curiosity. I haven’t found many clues as to the existence of many e63’s with higher miles than mine although I’m sure they are around...
I just surpassed 162k miles (not km) on my 2009 E63. I purchased this past March with 142k miles from the original owner. I bought it on a whim because it was absolutely spotless and has all MB dealer maintenance since day 1 with records. It won’t see this much duty for long, but I just haven’t been able to keep it parked, it’s so much damn fun!
It passed through the dealership shop every 90-120 days for the first 8 years of its life, and it has not had head bolts replaced to my knowledge, nor has it shown a history of any other catastrophes.
I’m getting ready to do some tear down to replace the valve cover gaskets for the 5th time per records and do a thorough cleaning and checkup of the intake manifold/throttle bodies as well as the upper cylinder heads/valvetrain. Plans are to replace plugs, wires, and coil packs for good measure along with anything else that seems like a good idea or shows poorly.
Hopefully it will continue behaving itself and appreciating a solid workout once or twice a week along with a thousand miles of highway time. Would love to see it go to 300k before needing a rebuild and a blower!
Cheers,
BD

106k on mine. Headbolts failed when the car had 36k according to the records. The power steering pump failed 2 days ago. Everything else is OEM. Eats tires.

We did a preventative replacement of my wife's (along with the WYITs) when we bought it at 106k. See my post on it for pics of the old bolts. Been a few thousand miles since.

You guys are all liars. Everyone on this board knows that the M156 is a POS engine that grenades itself when you hit 60k miles. Headbolt replacement is a must.

~87k miles on mine - headbolts failed at ~86k
Lots of PS Pump Whine, going to try and replace the resevoir with the updated part number in hopes it calms down a bit.

If mine has had the headbolts replaced, it was done completely off the record. The Original owner had an extended full coverage warranty to 100k+ miles and kept car wash receipts, so I’d be shocked 🤷🏻*♂️. It would actually be nice to know that it got done, honestly.
