Then it wasn't installed correctly. Take it back to the shop or get a refund.

E55 and several 928s
Or, you have a crank case pressure issue.

And do 't let them just pay you for the part.

It's the labor that's a mountain of money.

The seal itself is peanuts.

Before going into the mechanic with guns blazing, consider the possibility of a defective part. Certainly consider the possibility of other issues causing the blown seal, but if they're willing to make it right then why not let them?

Did you drive away before the sealer dried? There is a whole metal plate that gets glued and bolted.

If there was excess crankcase pressure then it would most likely vent out of the oil dipstick tube and not blow the rear main seal out. Sounds like it was an incorrect part that was used and/or it was damaged when it was pressed into the block. Impossible to blow out a new seal that was the correct part and installed properly.

Probably just slapped on a new main seal into the old metal plate. If you do rear main seal you need to change the plate, new seal and let the sealant cure over night, or it can leak.

M156 doesn't have a plate. Just a seal pressed into the crankcase.
