rear bearing fail

How common is the rear bearing to fail? I think it prematurely failed only have 60k miles on my beast. How difficult is it to replace? Where can i find one at a reasonable price? I'm mechanically inclined so I think I can tackle this project since i'm about to work on my rear end. Is there a DIY somewhere. Looked around the forum and Web but no luck for our platform.

What leads you to the rear bearing conclusion?

StarvingArtist is the only one I know of that has done this removal and re-install and written about doing it. Search for it.

well Hotsauce55, originally I thought it was my brakes, so I took the brakes apart and removed caliper as well to rule out brakes. as I spin the hub you hear the grinding like bearings are shot. drive shat seems in tacked so I ruled that out as well.

I asked because the differential can make a similar noise - I had to replace mine

Ahh you are talking about wheel bearing. I assumed you were talking about the supercharger bearings.

I believe the seal failed cause there was some rust where the drive shaft slide in the spindle. So anyone have any DIY or a source where I can purchase this?
