My car has had limited front end work done and it's developed a click when I rock the wheel back and forth. It seems like it may be inner or outer tie rod end but if I am going to dive in I don't mind doing ball joints as well as I see they tend to be short lived. (correct?)

Are there any other problem areas I need to be aware of? I'm ready for an alignment and I'd rather have it in as good of shape as possible before that happens.

All of them!!! LOL
I would say thrust arm bushings/ball joints, lower control arm bushings, and upper ball joints are the most common.

+1 on thtguy's comment. Having just gone through this, I recommend you bite the bullet and replace every bushing, ball joint, and tie rod in the front end...do it all at one time while you are in there.

What are you guys using for parts? Lemforder? I had a 99 540 and inexpensive suspension parts didn't last very long on those cars, I usually used lemforder.

If you are going to lower it at all go ahead and put in kmac bushings I wish I had.
