Help! Valve Cover Service, Now P0505 CEL! [SOLVED]
Hopefully this will save you some time and frustration in the future, especially if this is your first rodeo.
For the second time, the valve cover breathers started leaking (about 20k mi intervals so far). Add to that, the valve cover gaskets themselves started to leak also. So I figured: It's winter and I'm not driving the car, why not knock a few things out?
The job was simple enough: Gaskets, RTV, wrinkle coat the valve covers, change out spark plugs.
Everything went swimmingly, until I took the car for a joyride.
Well now, this is interesting.
After checking every breather hose, several times, I remembered this little guy was in the way during the tear-down...
Near cylinder #8, I found the problem. Silly me forgot to see where the other end of the aluminum tube goes upon re-assembly.
With the help of my borescope I spotted the problem, an open port on the back of the blower.
Note that there is another nipple on the back of the supercharger near the top half, you can't and shouldn't attempt to re-insert the tube there.
After buttoning everything back up, the AMG is breathing fire once again (via all the correct paths).
Hope this helps!

I've been battling the P0505 DTC since I bought my car last Novemebr, I checked the pipe you mentioned, even removed it, put my vacuum pump to it while sealing one side to find no leaks in the pipe. Re-inserted it in the supercharger properly, drove it for ~40 miles and my friend P0505 is back
I'm at a loss

I've read conflicting information on how much RTV to use and where to apply.
Pelican Parts DIY shows a couple of dollops only at the circular cam areas.
Other write-ups suggest putting a thin bead all along where the gasket runs.
Lastly, I saw another thread where the guy used a generous amount of the stuff to seal.
Thanks for any help.

Does anyone know what that second nipple on the back of the supercharger is for? And, what if anything connects to it?
I took the car apart a few weeks ago and I don’t remember disconnecting anything from this nipple, but I’d hate to put it all back together and have to go back in for a small vacuum line.
any help would be appreciated.
