Here is the spare tire that came with the car. It is an inflatable temporary tire that comes with a cig lighter plug in air compressor. Its not much, but better that nothing.

Could you take a picture of it out of the trunk and also the trunk when the spare is out? I'd like to see how the spare is secured so that it doesn't move around.

I put a spare in mine and used the SL55. I had to relocate my battery. It looks like what sfkarp did. Here is sfkarp's photo that I used as a guide when I installed my spare.



I didn't use towels to hold the spare in though. I just used the foam that I removed to hold the spare in place.

Nothing says German quality like having to buy your own spare tire/wheel and holding it in place with towels... in a $95K car. Simply amazing.
