Anybody Else got Squeaky Brakes?
Hey guys,
Got just a little over 2500 miles on my car and last week the brakes started squeaking every time I gently stopped the car.
The weather was nice and I had the windows down, but it was so embarassing I had to roll them up.
I've done searches on the board and tried the hard stop suggestion both backward and forward, all to no avail.
Any other suggestions, or should I let the dealer handle it?

Mine squeak a little but nothing horrible. I'll deal with it unless it gets worse. I really don't want the dealer techs tearing my car apart unless it is absolutely necessary.

On my M5 I had the same problem after a small amount of miles. My tech told me its because I wasn't stepping hard enough on the brakes and by doing this I was causing a glaze to form that would squeak when I came to slow stops.
He told to me to hit the brakes harder- I did and after a while the squeaking stopped. I guess the glaze had to be worn off. I wonder if this will help with the E55's too? I have 1k miles on mine and have been braking fairly hard because I hated that squealing noise on my M5.

I just come back from the dealer for that. They sand the front brakes...both side and soap the whole thing in some kind of chemical...don't know what it is. But the squeaking sound go away. mine only 700 miles.

MBWorld Fanatic!
Easy solution...
Open Freeway at 1 am:
120 mph -- Check rear view mirror for cars behind you
Slow to 40 mph
back to 120 -- Check your mirror for cars behind you
slow to 40
back to 120 -- Check your Mirror for cars behind you
slow to 40
Let the brakes cool for 10 min before using them again
Problem should go away. They just need to ge used a bit and warmed up. Slow city driving can cause the squeaking you are experiencing. My brakes started squeaking at 2300 miles but then I finally used the car a bit and they no longer make any noise.
Good luck and ENJOY!
P.S. But be safe of course...rather have squeaky brakes than a death or a traffic violation!

Thanks for the advice guys... I know it's a minor problem but with the windows down it's really loud and annoying. It's not what you expect to hear from an $85,000 car. I'll let you know how it turns out.
