coilovers...reviews????
In the market to buy coilovers. Just wanting to know which brand you guys are running, if any, and how does it ride and the quality of the product?
I was looking for Megan Racing Euro I, which are the cheapest one and my friend has them on his Camry, has no issues at all besides a little clunking when he turns, which will go away if he adds some lubricant. But he also said to get a little better quality product. They are for $700.
However, a shop offered me the D2 coils for $930, i see them for 1k online. Said it will ride a little better than Megan, last longer, and won't give any issues at all.
I've seen reviews of some ppl opposing Megan some embracing them, everyone has diff story. I'm a little picky and it's a kinda big investment and I wanna know and hear about the reviews of coils on W211...

At the $1,000 level I don't really think there is any difference among the brands to be honest. I've run cheap coilovers on other cars and they were acceptable for the price but not great.
I'd buy the KWs if I were putting coilovers on mine.

Yellow Speed Racing Sport coil-overs ($900, adjustable dampening and height) and W220 front and rear sway bars were placed on my 06 CL55 AMG. This Tuesday I'll be receiving the car back, and will report.

Yea i've heard good things about KW coils but they are out of my budget line...I'm keeping it below 1k or 900.
How is BC racing coils? anyone?
@Principledchiro
do let me know how they turn out. And where did you buy those from? I checked around their website and i only found them being made for Audi n BMW, as for German cars but not Mercedes.
Also heard somewhere D2 and Yellow Speed coils are built by same manufacturer?
Anyways, will await for your update

I have BC[s but ended up changing the front spring rate from 900 to 1,000lb for less dive and better handling. I have no issues and have checked them many times.

I'm getting Megan racing euro I for $700 ??
does E55 or E63 comes with air suspension, no?
I currently have e350 and i commute a lot on work. Hopefully soon enough i get a job in one location, the word is in the air. And I was planning to maybe sell this one and get one of those AMGs. I just love this W211 man, after that chasis, kinda don't like the newer models as much as the W211.
If i do get AMG, i'll just transfer the wheels and coils to that and sell e350 stock.

Yes the suspension is adjustable with the air but because it can fail at any time and I daily my car I made the jump
With coils it's a lot more responsive and I like them

hmm, interesting. Did that conversion cost anything besides the coils n labor, unless u did it by urself. or u can simply disable the air suspension?

Any mechanic can remove the ABC suspension components (power-hydraulic system, not airmatic). The install is straight forward as in any vehicle with struts and sway bars. Cost is approx. $700.

The airmatic components come out and all you need is the rear lower control arms from a non airmatic
Cost to install will go on an hourly basis
Figure 6 hours

how much was that control arm?
coils I can do at my friend's shop with some of his help. I'm trying to do every little thing at my friend's shop and learn it myself. Will come in handy in future as I'm still a student...I'm just getting into cars atm lol yea the coils installation is around at least 2-4 hours, based on how long he took to put coils in my cousin's bmw.
atm my main concern is getting that job lol which will set the benchmark of me trying to own E55 if not, e63 w211. I kinda regret, there was e55 sold for 10k with 100k miles, for not getting it. But my current job's mileage forbids me from getting a V8...hell this V6 is also too much.

As said in another thread that I'm too lazy to look through for a quote, a cheap E55 will be the most expensive car you ever own. These are not cars you cheap out on. I paid on the higher end for my E63 and feel that it was fully worth it compared to the cheaper ones that were for sale at the time. They all needed thousands of dollars of work and that was only after a quick PPI by my indy mechanic. Who knows what else could have turned up.

I was able to source new control arms on amazon for 150$ each. Don't buy used.

well that was just a thought tho. I still surf the CL site for AMGs n what not to see what's on the market lol that e55 i mentioned, was on CL for maybe a week max? Even if it was listed for 5k, i wasn't going to get it...like i said, the miles i put at work, wouldn't allow me to have a V8 lol i commute around 50-150 miles a day, i have a mobile job. I'm just getting the info together in case when i get a job in fixed location, a hospital, then I'll know what to look out for and what to expect.
However, i appreciate your concern. Yea, these german chicks are $$$$$$ to repair.
Although, there is this e63 on sale, but i think it has some issues, i am seeing it listed on CL for quite some time now, even the status says Rebuilt, with 100k miles and only 13k.
I hella want a AMG man, idk when the hell i'll have a switch over of my job, there are few decent ones for 15k...those look legit tho.
