Just got home from work the other day and noticed the alarm in my e55 was randomly going off just for a second or two at a time. I tried to turn it off from inside the car but made no difference. It even goes off while you are driving. Sounds pretty weak and crook also.

I use to work on Subarus and found a similar problem when the back up battery in the alarm module deteriorated and leaked onto the circuit board causing the alarm to act irregularly.

Guessing this is the same thing. I haven't tried to disconnect the battery but have a feeling this will make no difference.

Any ideas?

Yes ,you are correct,its the battery in the siren that have leaked over the Circuit board,the siren is located under the front driver side (L)plastic inner fender towards the rear.

Battery in the siren is getting weak. You will have to replace the whole unit or just remove the assembly from the car.

had to replace mine recently, as you describe, the backup battery leaks and damages the siren board.

new one is circa $100-120 from the dealers
