AMG has been very consistent to make new generations a little better than past and I'm sure they will attempt to do the same with the '06 model. BUT - the torq reportedly will be substantially less and I have to believe w/no SCharger, the ability for simple upgrades to HP and Torq will be difficult. I can't imagine a STRONGER motor than the present one. I'll take the '05 supercharged version anyday!!!! It will take a year to get the "bugs" out of the new 6.3 litre. .....Either one will leave you smiling - for my money, take the '05!

A couple of magazines have already "reported" that a 6.3 litre will be introduced in '06. They have reported 500 HP and 434 Torq. MB hasn't said anything from what I've seen, but the magazines are saying so. Either way, the torq figures are not nearly as strong. Maybe they'll gear it differently to hide the Torq shortfall.
It could be covered up to some degree. Just look at the present day M5. No where near the torq, but geared properly for high 4 sec 0-60 times and low 13 sec qtr mi times. It is geared very well! None the less - Give me TORQ!!!

Yeah..I definitely think the supercharged engine is the better choice......no doubt I've always been a fan of supercharged or turbocharged cars......the amount of torque you get is unbeatable.....

Based on the orders this year-I would speculate that Feb-March '05 would be the latest to order an '05. BTW - I saw again this past weekend in "Automobile" magazine the '06 amg they speculate to be introduced in March - April of '06. Who knows how long they'll keep selling '05 models.
BTW - The engine specs the mag is reporting is as I said in an earlier reply -- 500HP/434Tq
