sl55 mufflers on e55 - video and questions
Hello all. I just got an 03 e55 and am slowly moving through necessary maintenance and upgrades.
All new brakes and tires had to be first. Probably do engine mounts sometime soon.
Upgraded HX and Bosch 010 pump will be next.
Am i just thinking ahead and fell in love with the sound this e55 makes.
It is very short but gives me an idea of what it could sound like...
I really like the idea of OEM sl55 mufflers on there...
Where do people buy them? Are there part numbers I can use for research?

Does it make sense to pay $1200 + install for just a sound upgrade hahahaha

Start with that. If you're not satisfied, then you can go from there.
From all the OEM SL55 mufflers i've personally heard, they're pretty much the same as our E55's, maybe with a very very light change in tone. but essentially, not that much different.
If you wanted to drop $1,200 on mufflers, you may might as well buy C63 mufflers or CLS55 mufflers for a few hundreds less. At that point, you'll definitely be "heard" when you're driving.

I also just watched the video (hadn't before). I'm fairly certain that car at least has a resonator delete done on it as well.
