if you ran a premium oil you wouldn't need to change your oil at 4k...jus sayin. you're literally spending more than us guys do who run Motul or other top shelf oil.

Please don't bring up the subject of oil with him again.

My theory is- I've had the car for only 2 months, I'm still getting it ready. I want to "clean out my engine", can't flush it, also it's hot as **** where I live, and I'm driving a precision machine in stop and go traffic for 80 minutes a day, so best way to do it- put oil, let it get dirty, get it out, put new oil in, let it get dirty, get it out, put very good oil in- change out every 5-6k for the rest of the life of the car.

So I will do a few shorter term "flushes" as they get saturated with gunk, let the detergents in the oil do it's job- then I'll go to "premium oil" which again means nothing if you just change out the mobil 1 at shorter intervals.

I'm basically looking to change the stuff ahead of time to churn some cleaning benefit out of it. I can explain it further but it makes sense in my head.

the M156 requires synthetic oil at all times. Synthetic oil results in ZERO "gunk" or varnish.

I'm unsure of how this car was serviced before I got a hold of it, the oil that came out of it when I first did a change with castrol edge was seriously black which worried me.

I poured the new oil in and planned to change it again at 2k, in the mean time i ran 2 tank fulls of techron and it changed up the car quite a bit... it responds a lot better now so something is telling me there might have been some degree of neglect going on.

As a preventative measure I'll do my next oil change when the mobil one arrives, drive that oil for 3k or 4k, not sure, then I will resume doing 5k changes but I will switch over to Liqui 5w40 suitable for 5w40. Chances are I could stretch the oil a couple thousand more, no doubt, and it is better for the environment... but I'm a stubborn inbred.

The M156 is the NA 6.2L, so his statement doesn't apply to you

You guys just missed one. It was from April to the end of May. They usually have one in the fall too, typically from September to the end of October.

I still have lots of Castrol 0w40 from the Autozone clearance last year, $2 a quart, no rebate. That typically doesn't start til December though.
