Tires question CLS55 20"

My CLS55 has 20" aftermarket rims and it's so uncomfortable in regular driving since the tires are very low profile. 255/30/20 and 295/25/20. My questions is, can I use 255/35/20 and 295/35/20 ? Thanks for any advise. My car is not lower.

Tough to say. I'd say you could definitely do a rear tire in a 30 sidewall but the 35 may be pushing it. The 35 series front tire on my E55 rubbed on the control arm bolt. The 30 series was much better. It depends on the type of tire too. Michelin PSS are much bulkier than, say, a Nitto Invo of the same size

A lot depends on the offset of your wheels also.

I actually went with a slightly narrower tire to allow for a higher height ratio.
I had 255/30r20 on the front and 285/30r20 on rear. Trying to run a 255/35r20 in the front and you will have to check the upper balljoint for clearance.

Instead I went with a 245/35r20 up front and it feels so much better. I gave up a little width but got so much more sidewall height (makes up for the VERY rough roads....somewhat).

this will give you a little insight as to measurements.

30 series in the rear will probably be the most you can run with a 295 width tire. 35 series would be huge. at that point you might as well downsize to 18's or 19's.

Thank you guys. If I want to keep the same rims then I will change the rear to 295/30/20 instead 295/25. Hope this can improve the ride quality. I am using Hankook ev12.
