ESP intervention with LSD

Hi all,

considering a quaife or wavetrack LSD for the E55 as I find the current open diff too unpredictable when hooking up the 2 ton beast.

With the ESP off and LSD fitted does it still intervene much when wheels spinning hard or it is it more so when one wheel is going outa control with an open diff that the ESP jumps in?

Also any recommendations or experiences on brand/type of LSD?

thanks

I can't say for sure but I remember reading threads where people seemed to indicate that the LSD and ESP play nice together, I don't have first hand experience. Either wavetrac or quaife are great choices. I would try and find a wavetrac personally after reading up on how they both work but can't go wrong with either one.

I have a Wavetrac in my 05. They behave together fine, but the ESP intervenes enough that you want to avoid it kicking in as much as possible.

Put another way, an LSD doesn't improve the terrible ESP in these cars

i wish someone could reprogram ESP. all these tuners, not one can reprogram something besides an engine computer.

Ah right, that's a pity. I thought it was more designed to protect the spider gears from hand grenading. 700nm through one wheel, what were they thinking? I have a few mods and it's almost impossible to launch without loosing traction and esp *****ing out on ya. Worse yet when you got it **** out sideways then it decides to go all nanny on ya and cut power things get real sloppy. I guess AMG never intended for people to steer the car with the rear wheels. Then why put a supercharged and stroked v8 in the fkr then? Very disappointing, I came out of a turbo Subaru into the E55 hoping to reclaim a bit of my tire frying days, but not quite the same as my old rwd turbo jap & Aussie v8's. My mate always gives me **** for buying a 'grandpa car' I hate to admit it but the ESP almost makes it one!

Guess there's always dyno mode but that's a pain to put on and you loose ABS and all the rest of it.

An LSD will certainly make ESP intervention less frequent and should help traction significantly. Other than AWD there aren't many ways around how to get tons of torque into the road in a controlled manner.
