PLEASE HELP....RED BATTERY LIGHT (VISIT WORKSHOP), NOW KEY WON'T TURN

Hoping you guys can help. On startup, the red battery light with "visit workshop" showed up. A few days later (today), I go to unlock the car with the key fob and it won't work. I open the door with the key inside the fob, put the key in the ignition and it won't turn. The alarm went off when I opened the door and trunk manually. Had AAA check the battery and it is charged.

The car is an 05' E55 with 96,000 miles. Any help would be much appreciated, thank you in advance.
