Strange pulley noise only when hot
Strange pulley noise only when hot
Hello All,
I have been trying to pinpoint a noise lately that i started to hear after my 77 clutched and BWK being installed on my car.
I first heard it on my first test drive after putting the 77 and BWK on the car. sounded like a pulley failing. I checked the idlers and found that one of the original dual ones had some play and minimal noise so i attributed the extra strain on those pulleys from the BWK to be causing the noise and making it fail immediately after.
I purchased the 3 piece idler kit and installed that. upon initial start and quick drive there was no noise but after going for a longer drive and having the car get hot and completely up to temperature i could hear it again!
apart from actually tearing the whole front of the car to get to some of the pulleys on the driver side and check is there anyone who has some insight on what this could be?
The strange thing is that it makes no noise until the car has been driven for a while.
I am stumped...Thoughts??

look for excessive dirt on the pulleys yhat may give you an indication which one is squeaking. the bwk puts a lot of stress on those pulleys and the bearings may wear prematurely depending on the quality/grade. you could also put a drop of oil on one pulley, then drive it and see if it still occurs, if so then go to the next pulley in question. usually you could remove the belt and isolate the noise but the bwk makes that a challenge
