engine oil question .... opinions and thoughts

SO as I am always looking for the best oil available i was wanting to get some thoughts and whys u chose to run the oil you do.

I have ran euro formula 0-40 mobil 1

currently I am running castrol euro 0-40 castrol edge titanium seems to be doing well

but lately I have been thinking of switching to Motul 8100 5w40 x-cess

or pentosin 5w40 syn oil

Motul 8100 X-Cess 5W-40 with LiquiMoly MoS2 oil additive.

thank me later. if you are curious just search the forums for reviews and arguments. Others are using LiquiMoly 5W-40 oil, as well as Shell Rotolla T6. Mobil 1 is....MEH...and doesn't help with lifter noise. I hear Euro Castrol Edge is good, but only from the BMW forums. I don't associate with BMW people as they're most of the time Honda people who grew up.

yeah I have been thinking Motul would be the way to go especially with as good as it seems too be.

As for just getting what the engine was speced for .... I am still getting a full synthetic 5w40 weight which is what its speced for. I just know from experience that not all synthetics are created equal. I looked online and after some reading I think Motul xcess is the way to go for now.

I usually get my castrol from walmart at 26 bucks for 5 qt jug but found the motul xcess for 32 bucks online so ordered 2 and it will be here in the next few days. Ill send off a sample of my current oil to black stone and then again at the end of 6 to 7k of the motul and see how they stack up.

with Motul i've been changing my oil past 8k. haven't done a test, but power of the engine hasn't decreased since day one of oil change to last day of oil change.

Mobil 1 with LiquiMoly MoS2, felt great until 3-5 days later...power was gone. engine felt sluggish in comparison to Motul. the difference is pretty uncanny, it feels like a small ECU retune. you gain power everywhere.

with oil change intervals so lengthy as spec'd...no reason NOT to run the best.
