Lightbulb MKB tuning - Experience? Opinions? Advise?

Hello fellow AMG enthusiasts,

This is my first post on this forum but have spent a few months on researching on tuning my E55. I came across interesting discussions in posts by E55RUS on how MKB doesn't use pullies to increase boost. There was a post by MKBCLS55 too who had done the MKB stage 4 package on his CLS55.

I have gone through every single thread on this forum with MKB in it and have come to learn that they tune the ECU without pullies and make good power outputs keeping the heat in check as no pullies means lesser heat. Lesser heat - better power as heat retards power. All this has been discussed.

I'm planning on doing the stage 4

Increase in performance 456 kW (620 HP) at 5800 rpm, 800 Nm at 4190 rpm
high performance camshafts, exhaust headers s/s,
special compressor clutch, bigger throttle with optimized air intake tube,
adaption of ECU incl. V-max delimiter,
Limited slip differential 45%
reinforcement transmission incl. adaptation TCU,
shorter transmission ratio ( I = 2,82 ) for a better acceleration rate

MKB no longer have presence in Dubai and says the car must be shipped to Germany for the full package. They also mentioned they try arranging for installation in Dubai but gearbox needs to be shipped for the reinforcement. Shipping the entire car makes more sense I guess.

I plan to use MKB for my car and would like people who have experienced or still own MKB tuned cars to chime in. The discussions about MKB are very old and would like to how it has held up to date. Any information about it would be of great help.

This forum has been of great help with so much of info that now I remember people by usernames

Thanks for chiming in Shardul. Do you have any idea what size supercharger pulley they use? Sometimes a mod may be simple and cost effective but the premium tuners charge a lot.

I'm considering certain mods like LSD- OS Giken (Renntech 100% locking), 82mm throttle body (MKB is 80mm) and a Supersprint or MBH long tube header instead of the MKB.

I spoke to Herman Bader who manages sales but wasn't aware of certain questions I asked and have sent an email to him for him to check with his technical team and get back. He did mention that the tune may not be compatible with other mods as it is made exact for the package they offer and hence the tune will have to be customized. I will be talking to them again and hope to have more information.

To be honest I dont know what size pulley they use.
I get a lot of ebay sales from various shops in Germany for our 83mm.
