Evosport Header Repair
2005 E55. I just removed my passenger side header EvoSport shorty header, as I noticed a crack in seam close to cat.
From research I understand that header material is "mild carbon steel". I shouldn't have problems cleaning the weld seam and have this fixed by running a new bead, however does anyone have an idea what coating I could spray on afterwards for protection? I understand that it's some sort of 2100F ceramic coating, but unable to find something online that I would use. Any suggestions?
Also, has anyone else fixed a crack in theirs yet, and have any experience with how they fixed it? I prefer to ask specifically to Evosport Headers.
looks like that could easily be fixed by rewelding. as far as coating you'll have to send out the entire header to be recoated as a whole. there are many companies out there that offer coatings. swain, jethot, etc.
anything you can apply at home would not serve the same function as a professionally installed coating.
professional ceramic coatings attempt to block heat from passing through the ceramic coating. self application coatings are simply coatings to prevent rust for the most part.
