Just refitted my fabtech style intake kit on my E55. The supercharger used to whine lots before I took it off but now it is hardly whining at all.

I have fitted it how it was before so I am confused. Any ideas?

 

Maybe you dislodged a hose somewhere? Car idle and have the same power as before?

 

No hoses dislodged as far as I can see.

Re performance, car still goes like stink and has the same idle.

 

What year is your Harley?

 

I took the plastic cover off the bonnet vent. Makes the whine alot more noticable. There is speculation that if you have a exhaust leak it will get pulled into the cabin filter along with outside air...

 

Let me mail you my ex ,Ill show some serious whine.

I would smoke test the car then go from there.

It is odd though that the whine was there before I originally removed the kit but now it is not after refitting it and nothing looks different.

I wish I had never removed it in the first place!

 

Maybe it was originally installed incorrectly and sound was escaping/generated because of that. If your still boosting fine I'd consider removing the vent and/or heat/sound lining on the bonnet.

 

Still boosting fine, car goes very well.

If I do that then will I cause any potential issues? I'd like to hear the whine more in the cabin. Thanks.
