Airmatic I & II not working
Disclaimer: I already performed a search and didn't come up with anything.
Vehicle: 2007 E63
Problem: Airmatic malfunction on display (outline of a car with an up arrow on it) and vehicle does not lower when Airmatic I or II are selected. The car seems stuck at the "comfort" setting. However, vehicle will rise normally at all four corners when the rise button is pushed and will lower back down to normal/comfort ride height when de-selected. No apparent leaks at the moment since the car maintains ride height even after sitting for a few days.
Discussion: Does anyone have any information on this particular issue before I go find an indy and have STAR hooked up?

Sport 1 and Sport 2 will lower the car. They also will change damping on the shocks as does sport shift or manual shift transmission mode does.
You have a sensor fault/failure. Complete a STAR or compatible scan to determine which of your sensors is faulty. For my car it was the "Acceleration Sensor" aka G sensor on the passenger shock tower.

You guys are giving false information on how that works..Sport 1 doesn't lower the car nor does sport 2..When the car passes 70 mph it's then will lower if the car is raised, when on sport 2 then the car will lower tad more past 80 mph to keep the car planted..

My 2007 E63 does not change it's static height via the Airmatic Sport controls. I checked the manual and it is not supposed to (i.e. it is functioning perfectly). Not sure why other E63s would behave that way; I could see that the CLS and/or E55 are different.

ya...not too sure then...my car if it doesn't lower stationary when i press Sport 2, when i begin to drive off it'll lower during that initial 10-20 feet of driving off. sometimes it does it while stationary, sometimes it doesn't.
but it does lower in Sport 1 and Sport 2.

Are you guys doing this on flat ground? I've found when parking in the driveway that the front will generally air down a bit (not all the time though) once the car is parked with the nose uphill. This has happened at my house and at my woman's place.

Any recent work on the front end?
Check the dampening valve connections that run along the sway bar behind the front fender liner or the air spring valve connections at the top of the strut. These connections could look connected but you have to push them in all the way until the locking mechanism clicks. So long as there is a bad connection on any of the strut electrical connections, it will throw the error on the cluster and that disables your control of the dampening using the sport 1, 2, comfort button.
If the front's pan out, then check the cable connections for the rear shocks also behind the fender liners.
Star will definitely point you the the exact corner causing the fault.

Also, as Strigoi mentioned, parking my car on a non-level surface does affect the ride height. And there is that pesky +/- 10mm range which equates to approximately 8/10ths of an inch. That is noticeable.

yeah...when i'm on a non level surface it'll readjust within start to 20 feet away driving off.
every so often when i'm on the freeway i'll notice the car has a subtle pull to one side. usually means the suspension hasn't leveled correctly from the get go. this is easily solved by cycling through each mode sport 1 and sport 2 with some time between on my car.

You are correct. I checked the manual to be sure and the chart explains that there is no ride height adjustment in Sport I or II except for when the vehicle is traveling >68 mph.
I could have sworn my previous w211, a 2006 E55 (RIP), lowered when I selected Sport I or II but I could be mistaken. That may be where the confusion lies. The manual for the 2006 E55 also provides the exact same information and charts as the facelifted models.
Regarding the malfunction on the dash, it went away on it's own after the weather finally warmed up. It was present for about two weeks. I am convinced it is weather related, as this is the second time I experienced this dash warning and the weather was markedly colder then as well.
As to the owner with the CLS500 (aka, hachiroku), I didn't check the manual for that model but can't refute video evidence. Maybe those have different Airmatic schemes programmed?
Lastly, the manual also specifically states the car will lower slightly 60 seconds after shut down when in Comfort mode.

MY 2005 raises and lowers with sport 1 and 2. I can go from regular mode to fully rasied up. Back down to normal. then sport 1 lowers and sport 2 lowers a tiny bit more. Not sure the exact specs but they all change the height.
