04 E55 nomal engine temperatures?

The engine temperature on my E55 04 (far right display)after just lets say 15 minutes normal city driving is over 100 degree's.
The weather here in NYC just turn into the 80's ,I bought my car in February , so i never noticed the temperatures that high before .Is this normal ?
I have also notice that the termostat on the center display gets high also,high let's say 80's outside and it's displaying 98's or 103's.Anybody knows where the outside temperature termometer is located at? Thank you in advance!

F=1.8*C+32

100 C is about 212 F which is the boiling point of water. But, since the coolant system is under pressure (10-15 psi) the boiling point is quite a bit higher. The modern automobile is designed to run a bit hot for emission reasons. The thermostat probably opens at 190 F (~88C). So 100 C is about right for normal operations; my 02 E55 runs right about 90 C most of the time with it rising during idle, especially with the AC on. You might check (when cold) whether the coolant tank is at an appropriate level.

The ambient temperature sensor is usually under the front bumper behind the lower valence. Sometimes you can see it sticking out from behind the mesh. It will read high when you are at a stop or just starting out because it is reading the high street surface temperature. It needs to have airflow over it for a short time before it reads correctly.

Hope that helps. Obviously if you still think it is too high, visit your friendly neighborhood Benz service department.

One way to cool it down quickly is to turn on your heater for about 5 - 10 mins. That should significantly cool it down back to 80.

Ahh! So i'm running at about the normal temp. for this vehicle.
I'll keep my eye on the termostat. Thank you Gents.
