E63 Transmission Service Question
Good afternoon, I hope this finds everyone well. I am in the process of sending my conductor plate out to get repaired and after it is returned I will be reinstalling everything myself at home in my garage. My question is since I do not have a lift and the vehicle will be up on jackstands front and back, am I able to start the vehicle to get the trans fluid up to temperature to properly set the fluid level while the wheels are not in contact with the ground? Will this damage the airmatic suspension since the sensors will read a higher ride height level and try to compensate accordingly? Any help is greatly appreciated !

The suspension will detect a raised level and try to lower the car.. when the system realizes it cant lower itself, it will stop and wont try again until you restart the car. If you are planning on putting it into drive with it off the ground on jack stands, put the car in dyno mode so that you can let it idle in drive without setting any traction/esp warnings.

As everyone else said, it's fine. Unlike some vehicles which require a switch be switched to deactivate the system, the MB system is smart enough to realize that the vehicle is on a lift and it won't release all the air. The car may be lower than normal once you set it down, however (which can prevent removing the jack, left arms, etc). It will level itself out eventually, but if you want it to correct itself right away, just use the switch to raise and lower the car: it will go back to the correct position.
