Talking 2006 E55 Need some help

I just purchased a 2006 E55 AMG ( VIN: WDBUF76J46A879321 ) with 75,000 miles. Several questions since I am new to this MB. 1. Is there a problem with the cylinder head bolts? 2. When I change the valve cover gaskets is there anything else I should do while I am changing the gaskets? 3. It has not had a lot of love mechanically and I know it also needs brakes and rotors. Is theer anything else I should do before I start to use it daily?

Thanks Bill99

No issues with the head bolts in the M113 engine. The M156 engine in 2007+ has the potential problem.

Use advanced search to look for any post by me with the word "maintenance" in the title and you'll find decent info. I also just posted last week on some tips for replacing the brake pads and rotors on the E55. Key thing to note about your 2006 is you have two fuel pump relays on the passenger-side trunk under the cover; should be more reliable compared to the single-relays that melted (often) in the earlier years.

I would suggest that since your changing out the valve cover gaskets, why not change out the spark plugs as well. If your unsure of what services have been performed, I would start from scratch and change out the essential fluids, like the Engine Coolant, Brake Fluid, Engine Oil, Transmission Fluid and Filter, and Rear Differential. Then my next thing would be the brake pads and rotors. I would also check all idler pulley for excessive play. With these essential items, you should be good on maintenance for several years, except for your frequent oil changes.

Only use genuine Mercedes valve cover gaskets, some aftermarket ones are slightly too thin and leak.

Thanks. Yes I have been watching some You Tubes and some highlighted this. I agree that I might as well change the spark plugs since I am not sure when that was done last and while changing the valve cover gasket that should be very easy.

I can't wait to get the car and dive into the work. It does run OK right now with no codes so I can at least do all the needed maintenance without hurrying.

Again, thats all this is a great forum with great enthusiasts.
