Eurocharged headers install - help me spot what's wrong?
Hey guys.
I installed a set of Eurocharged headers on my 2004 E55. Please see the pictures bellow. The passenger side header align pretty well with the chassis channel were the exhaust goes. The driver header pipe if off center by a good 3" to 4" (towards the fender). Is it possible that Eurocharged put the wrong part in the kit? Any clues why it doesn't seem to align? (note: These flanges are welded, they can't be rotated like some other kits... which would give me more play... And I tried all other position but they are even worst of course)

Any of you had issues with the driver side header being too close to the left side heat shield? Mine seem to be touching. (pic) With that engine's torque, I fear the worst...
The header is properly bolted into place and both engine mounts are brand new so these are out as possible suspects. Of course, having the headers extend to the left is causing the end pipe to sit more towards the left, which is what we're seeing now.
I fear that the assembly on my driver side parts was off. I assume they're built in a gig which leaves very little room for error... so I'm quite puzzled!

Yes I did. As of now, not much help unfortunately - they gave me the name of a guy I could reach at the company, I may try that tomorrow to speed things up. Being that they build the thing, I expected to have a quick YES or NO, I sent them a bunch of pictures.

Like i said, looks exactly how mine did. I do not really see an issue. I used a prybar and bent the heat shielding away from the header as mine was actually making contact, once the shielding was bent enough there was no contact.
I would also suggest cutting off the one stud that hold the heat shielding near the closest portion of the header. On hard acceleration the engine would torque enough and contact this causing a pretty bad vibration. This was also on brand new motor mounts.

No, with the feedback I got from some forum members stating that their collector pipe looked similar, I decided to move forward with the install first, and see what happened.
I dropped the car at my exhaust shop and the guys there did an awesome job today. They were able to properly fit the exhaust to the left collector pipe, it was just more work... Will post pictures later.
It's a pretty good snowstorm here right now so the car slept there for the night!

Picked up the car at 5pm and immediately had to run to do other things... Will post pics tomorrow but the guys did a great job, I'm very happy. Not so much about Eurocharged though but still....
But the car sounds great the there's no vibration at all, I was afraid being so close to the heat shield... but my tech said he pried the shield away a little which probably helped. The new engine mounts and all 4 lower ball joints made a huge difference as well, they were way past due...
I still have the power loss and bugging down when I open the throttle past 3/4 though... even after replacing all the plugs and visually inspect and clean all coils. Will post details in the dedicated post about that, if you can help, I'm listening.

Quick update, car ran beautifully and I went back the the same repair shop to replace all 4 rotors and pads, and do a quick trany mount replacement. About a thousand ft before I got to the shop, I punched it and I heard a weird engine noise, like a leaking manifold/headers... Good thing I was just about to pull up to the shop. They lift the car up and found that the left side flange connecting the header to the flex pipe had lost a bolt and the gasket had torn itself out, causing a leak.
I can only assume that after driving the car a few dozen miles, these bolts should've been re-torqued after everything had a chance to heat up and properly seat. Or that loctite should've been applied to them during the install...
What do you guys think?

Same deal man, ive had to get different nuts and bolts for those collectors as mine kept wiggling loose. All good after some serious torque and strong Loctite.

My EC headers lined up like yours too. I had my welder cut and re-weld the flange as there was no way it was lining up. Massive *** pain.
I also torqued the nut and bolts they provided tightly, then again a few heat cycles later. I still ended up losing a nut and having one other loosen to finger tight and ended up with a horrible exhaust leak for a day or so till I replaced the nuts and bolts with some finer threaded ones. No issues now about 2 years later after the initial pains.
