Modified E55 (82mm TB, etc) bogging after shifts (1-2 and 2-3)
#26
I'm sorry to hear that the upstream 02 replacement didn't help. Unfortunately, my problems returned after a month or so as well so it looks like if it was going to work-it wouldn't have been for long. I have since gotten rid of my e55 because it was no longer enjoyable to drive with the garbage shifting. I tried a few different ecu/tcu tunes and combos to no avail. I also tried a higher stall torque converter, transgo shift kit, all of the sonnax updated valve body parts, new converter solenoid, and new conductor plate. None of those parts had any effect on shifting, not to mention all new engine sensors and what not. This problem occurred on both clutched and clutch less pullies, stock and upgraded injectors.. etc. I tried almost anything and it was a shame that nothing really worked because I loved the car...Unfortunately it looks like the best thing to do with these is leave them stock. I'm sure some other people have never experienced this problem- lucky for them!

This place is a joke.
The problem is a momentary lean condition at throttle tip-in/supercharger clutch engagement. This is why it's worse when it's cold outside, because the cold air requires more fuel which makes the lean condition worse. A larger throttle body makes it worse still. I was able to make mine mostly tolerable by making sure my fuel pumps were getting full battery (alternator) voltage...thus increasing fuel pressure slightly. I used a larger heavy duty 75amp relay and ran my own 10 gauge wiring to the fuel pumps.

Torque limiters in the TCU do the "pull back" feeling when shifting as well and that's what mine do's. The throttle body and map sensor are out of sinc when a larger throttle body is installed.
Your the man Tim. and glad it works so good for you.....my new TCU is on it's way and am really stoked about it thanks to you and your boy. That guy is smart as hell man !!!

Just put the new TCU in and it is fantastic. No more pull back between shifts, perfect shift control in every mode and the new "A" mode added on shifts fantastic and It's funny to see the letter "A" pop up on the screen LOL. This is how these car's should have been from the factory.
I had 3 tunes done and 1 valve body from other's and all did practically nothing. But this TCU is perfect and again I can put it in what ever "mood" I am in.... stock shifting, firmer shifting, real firm shifting. Good stuff !!!! Thanks Troy !!!

Just to add also the throttle feel is fantastic with 0 delay. The torque limiters have been moved up from 400% to 1,000 % and works fantastic with the accelerometer manipulation as well as the off idle throttle performance.
Gin you are going to love it !!!! And if there is something you want to change...more or less just let him know and he will reflash it. He is a great guy to deal with !!

And anyone running a stall convertor the tcu tune witll be set up for proper converter slip. if you search anyone of my track time posting over the years esp after adding a stall converter about my hanging shifts or when it would hook it would hang at 4500rpms from 1-2 i would have to reset adaptations just to sort of a shift. At one point i thought i needed a trans. i often said in old posts if there was a proper trans tune it would change this car. Even with my few mods on my car it sure did.

How are the modes selected?
What is expected pricing?
Compatible with high stall TC?
Works with LSD and 3.06 gears?

this is the only tcu that works with the stall even at my stock pulley and headers powers and gears the car would not 60ft all the time and et was all over the place i could run 11.5 or 11.8 in the same day because it would not shift correctly on the drag radials and it would hang like a limit was being hit. street and med part light throttle is pretty cool im chirping tire all the time. I picked up 3mph in the 1/8 .3
the tcu is tuned not just changes made.

Thanks for the feedbacks sic and 99. I saw the FB post and was hoping some one else would have some info on it because it sounded pretty dang good. I'll prob pull the trigger now as well.

Put more miles on it and still happy. Again Comfort mode is stock shifting, Sport a little more firmer, Manual mode very firm and will chirp the tires on the 1-2 shift , "A" mode is fantastic as well with very firm shifting but no learning capability so stays the same all the time and is very firm. My only gripe in A mode is if you use paddle shifters it will not display what gear you are in unless you start at first gear. It will show a gear if you go to use it but on the fly you would not know what gear until you use the paddles. No big deal at all. All in all though fantastic !! Hope that sounded correct LOL
Last but not least the torque limiter "pull back" feeling on accel is completly gone and now has a very pronounced "push" like it should going into each gear change.
