Triple check that oil level! Your level should be at 168 on your dipstick! 90 seems REALLY LOW! Are you getting error messages on yiur display?

Are you sure you are inserting the dipstick all the way? Do you have a pic of the dipstick inserted? I can tell you if it is fully inserted.

Looks like you are low. I wanted you to make sure becuase i do not want you to overfill your engine. I am surprised that you do not have any messages stating that you need to add oil. Oil sensor malfunction? Triple check the readings on the dash for any message(s) and procede to add oil. 0w40 is what you should use. 168mm is your stoping point.

5.8 on a cold car (where all the oil is in the sump) seems quite low. That number is going to drop when started, as the oil cycles. Usually if I check electronically with matching cold conditions, I'll be around 7.5 give or take a tenth.

You should have just bought the correct one from the dealership. Trying to save a few bucks buying cheap Chinese crap, never works out in the long run.

Cheap Chinese crap is basically all we can get now. Unless it’s from the dealer.

Are you sure you're not checking the transmission fluid? Why not drain the oil, add 9.5 quarts, then measure? You are risking a $30K engine on a cheap dipstick and you do not appear to be willing to invest in $46 worth of Mobile at Walmart. Let us know what happens as this may be a learning experience for us all...

Plus the instrument cluster will tell you, "Add one quart oil at next stop". If this is messed up, then replace the oil level sensor.

im not parked on a level surface either so i gotta park somewhere more level and then have the computer check it again to be exact, regardless its still gonna be low. I’ll change
the oil sometime this week, haven’t driven the car in days.

^ agree'd. this is how I confirmed that what others said about the replacement dipstick for the M156 was true. It reads 1.5-2 quarts low.

To be totally forthcoming, after draining both the oil pan and oil cooler, I put in 9.5 qts of Mobil 1 0W-40. I then warm up the car and take a reading, to ensure the correct oil level.
After that, I never check the oil again until the next change, or if the car tells me to add an additional quart at next fill up. I've done it this with all my cars.
If their is an issue, the car is smart enough to notify me, of the issue. And during the 11 yrs of ownership, the add another quart, has only appeared a few times.
So my car really burns very little oil, between oil changes.

How far are do you insert the dipstick tool? (Baum 120-0721)

I’m having a hard time determining when it bottoms out. I have to force it and can actually insert it all the way. It feels like 810mm is the bottom out point. However I read oil level of 180 which is over full per dipstick instructions. My dash reads 6.5qts/OK. This last oil change I added 7.5L, hesitant to ad more as the sensor and dipstick aren’t lining up. Worried about user error on the dipstick insertion depth.

It says oil level OK at 6.5 on the cluster? Odd. Mine tells me to add around 6.8 and 7.8 reflects a full 9 qt oil change.
