Shock decisions

I got the shock apart, and rebuilding it myself is too much trouble. There is a metal ring holding the bladder on the inside. It's like a seamless hose clamp, and it has to be seamless. I would have to find a new one and build a tool to roll it tight. Not worth it unless we could find the parts and a bunch of you guys wanted to use the tool.

Thanks, I'll look into them. Arnott told me 3 weeks, but for what they charge, I'm within reach of new ones.
I'm really liking the idea of just changing the air springs myself. It's the only significant thing they can do in a rebuild anyway. They likely change the bellows and the aluminum cover to make it look pretty and new, Maybe even paint it. My shocks already look good, they just need that one new piece of rubber. I'm going to pull the cover off today and see what it looks like. Then we'll see how good google really is. 11 million choices in a tenth of a second and all that.
If anybody has any ideas on how to find that part....

I suppose I could do that with star when they are in the car, but they seemed to work fine except for the little issue of all the air leaking out.

I didn't trust the jc whitney shocks to be the real thing, but went back to look again, the price had gone up dramatically. I guess they really were new ones. I went with RMT because they were significantly cheaper than arnotts, and I figured it's a roll of the dice on the cores anyway. That may have been a mistake. The outer boots and the new nuts were obviously lower quality than oem. I just hope the air bladders aren't from china. The car works fine and feels the same, but my trust factor has gone down. Next time I'm rich it's new oem. these can go up on ebay.
