Audio Gateway Removal Auto Trunk Opener Broken Should I Fix Or Remove?

Audio Gateway Removal Auto Trunk Opener Broken Should I Fix Or Remove?


I have an issue with my radio that requires removing and replacing the audio gateway. I have done this before in my E500 but it did not have the auto trunk open and close feature In The Way. Anyway, if I remove the auto trunk opening assembly and unplug the cables, will it screw up anything electrically? To me it looks like something is broken and missing anyway (see pics). Or should I fix It? Is there a tutorial on removing it completely. I just cannot get my hand or wrench in there to remove the inner bolt for the gateway bracket. Thanks
