Help! 00e55 performance question
Took it to the dealer who found no codes but replicated the symptoms. They eventually replaced the air flow meter which fixed the problems.
One year later, I have the same issues but the dealer insists "everything is in tolerance and there are no codes". They also insist that an e55 should not be able to spin the tires from a dead stop!! I asked them why it used to melt the tires down w/ the ESP off. They said "it could be that the tires are now more broken in".
Looking for a sanity check and some suggestions. Shouldn't an e55 have enough torque to break the tires loose? Any clues how to advise MB on additional things to look at? Additionally, I am on my third air flow meter. Any ideas what the cause might be??

Looking for some expert opinions. I have an 00 e55. About a year ago, the car was behaving odd -- overly sensitive tip-in from start; too early 1 to 2 shift under low/med acceleration; not enough torque to spin the back tires from a dead stop (w/ ESP off).

I've noticed my W210 E55 is a bit touchy on the tip-in, but I've only had the car for a few weeks, and figured it just was a characteristic of the drive-by-wire throttle.
It also won't get more than a little slippage with ESP off, but that may be due to brand new S-03's. They're pretty gummy, especially when new. (not that I'm looking to burn off the tires, just want to make sure it is running up to par).
Any suggestions?

I popped the ESP off at the first red light. When I saw green, I mashed the gas pedal and the e55 instantly and ferociously lit up the tires. Out of the corner of my eye, i caught the sight of a poor soul waiting on the corner bus stop bench, who upon hearing the sounds of the roaring engine and smoking tires, leaped back into the hedges behind the bench.
That is the performance I am looking to recapture!
The e55 is an amazing vehicle and more than a bit addictive. I have been into performance cars since getting my first 69 Z28 while in high school in the late 70's. In the early 90's as a family man in need of four doors, I was elated with the introduction of the Infiniti Q 45. The idea of a massive 4-door sedan that ran sub 7 second 0-60's seemed remarkable (at the time!).
Wind the clock forward 10 years and we now have e55's running mid 4's 0-60's, and 12.4 in the quarter. This all makes my 00 e55 seem a bit pokey and my Q45 positively nostalgic!
Until my lease expires, at least you have all provided me with some hope that I can in fact milk a few more blue smoke-outs with a new MAS.
Thanks again. Motorbobb
