E55 amg supercharger squeek/squeel

Hi I have just got a 05 E55 amg with 64,000kms on it, iv noticed that when supercharger comes on around 1500 rpm I believe it makes a squeak, squeal noise for a split second.. is this normal or what would it most likely be ??? Thanks

Yeah its the clutch engaging. Maybe you need a new belt oand/or tensioner

IMO alot of that noise is the supercharger clutch mating surfaces not the belts. I had my stock supercharger clutch surface ground and it has only made that noise when I did a big burnout (which may have been the belts that time) otherwise its quiet as before surface grinding I could hear it on almost every engagement. I believe you will find if you put a straight edge on your clutch surface that it is not flat and actually has grooves cut into it from the magnet surface. If you take it off you will see what im talking about. Even taking to it with a file or some sandpaper on glass to remove the ridges will make a massive difference imo.

These can get so bad that the grooves actually cut the protective resin/stuff that protect and hide the windings for the magnets and the stuff comes out exposing the innards. Not good.

This is part of the reason MB recommend replace the clutch with new one after certain mileage I believe.... But I think surface grinding it is much cheaper provided the springs still look good and you keep an eye on them from each oil change...
